  • Flying Branch
  • Ground Branch(Technical)

Flying Branch

If you wish to touch the skies then this job is best for you. If you got selected then you will be appointed as Fighter pilot, transport pilot, or helicopter pilot. There are two ways to join as a flying branch in the Indian Air force:

  • After Graduation: AFCAT, CDSE
  • After 12th: NDA

Ground Branch(Non-Technical)

Graduate and post graduate are entitled to apply for this post. In this post you will manage material and human resource.

Indian air force eligibility criteria :

  • Age:- 20-26 years
  • Nationality:- Indian
  • Martial Status:- Should be unmarried if age is below 25 years
  • Both Men and Women can apply for this post.

There are five branches in this post:

  • Administration Branch
  • Accounts Branch
  • Logistics Branch
  • Education Branch
  • Meteorology Branch

Ground Branch(Technical)

In this post you will manage your team to ensure that the Indian air force remains airworthy.

Indian air force eligibility criteria:

  • Age:- 20-26 years
  • Nationality:- Indian
  • Martial Status:- Should be unmarried if age is below 25 years
  • Permanent Commission:- For Men only
  • Short service Commission:- For Men and Women
  • Final year students can also apply if they do not have any present backlog.

Branches:

Depending upon your qualification and subjects you studied you can apply for one of these branches.

  • Aeronautical Engineering Electronics
  • Aeronautical Engineering Mechanical

Career Options according to Education

You can join Indian AirForce after 12th, graduation, and post-graduation. In this article, we will discuss exams and post available according to qualification.

After 12th

  • If you want to join Indian Airforce after 12th then you can appear for NDA exam which is conducted by UPSC twice in a year.
  • Age limit for this exam is 16.5 years to 19.5 years
  • 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics is required.
  • If you join in the flying branch and ground technical branch then you would be offered B Tech in NDA and for ground branch non-technical you would be offered a B.SC degree.

Graduation

If you want to join Indian Airforce after graduation then you can appear for CDSE and AFCAT examination.

For Flying Branch:

  • Age limit is 20-24 years
  • candidate martial status should be single.
  • If you apply through the CDSE examination then you will get the permanent commission.
  • Through AFCAT you will get Short service commission which is of 14 years.

For Ground Branch:(Non Technical)

  • Age limit is 20-26 years
  • If age is less than 25 years then-candidate should be unmarried.
  • Men can apply for both permanent commission and short commission whereas women can apply for only short commission service.
  • You can apply via CDSE or AFCAT.

For Ground Branch:(Technical)

  • Age limit is 20-26 years
  • If age is less than 25 years then candidate should be unmarried.
  • Men can apply for both permanent commission and short commission whereas women can apply for only short commission service.
  • You can apply for this post only via AFCAT examination.

You can also join through NCC special entry and it is applicable for both men and women.

Post graduation

If you want to join Indian airforce after post-graduation then you can apply for these two posts which are Ground branch (Non -Technical)

  • Education Branch
  • Meteorology Branch

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age limit is 20-26 years
  • If age is less than 25 years then-candidate should be unmarried.
  • Men can apply for both permanent commission and short commission whereas women can apply for only short commission service.
